Roma are the best Serie A side, but there's a catch...

The Giallorossi closed out 2025 as the team with the most points in the Italian top division. The pitty is that those points have been collected in two separate seasons
When you add up Claudio Ranieri's reign and Gian Piero Gasperini's spell, Roma are champions of Italy. A pity it happened across two different seasons, but it says everything about the Giallorossi's rebirth.
With a convincing 3-1 victory over Genoa at the Olimpico, Roma closed out 2025 as the team with the most points in Serie A. Ranieri's revival and Gasperini's relentless start combined for an impressive 82 points, leaving Inter (77) and Napoli (75) behind.

Maintain this rhythm into 2026 and the Giallorossi can dare to dream: the summit is just three points away. Even a Champions League return would satisfy Trigoria - but chances like this don't come often. Why not take it now?
Roma played with authority, a far cry from the pre-Christmas wobble that brought three defeats in four games. There was no mercy for club icon Daniele De Rossi, warmly welcomed back to the Olimpico but tactically outplayed by the more experienced coach on the night.

The match was decided early. After 14 minutes, Matias Soule punished a Genoa mistake, and Manu Kone quickly doubled the lead after another defensive lapse. A third gift arrived via Ruslan Malinovskyi's error, and although Soule was denied, Evan Ferguson pounced on the rebound for 3-0 inside half an hour. Game over. Roma cruised, conceding only a late consolation to Ekathor.
The only dark cloud was Soule's injury before the hour mark. Roma's standout player this season, his potential absence would be a major blow ahead of the trip to Bergamo.
