Rodgers didn't even know what the UEFA ECL was, now he wants to win it

Foxes will face the Danish side Randers on Thursday night in the playoff round of the Europa Conference League

It was after that Europa League away loss to Napoli and the subsequent elimination in December that Brendan Rodgers admitted he was totally unaware of the UEFA Europa Conference League existence.

However, two months later, the Foxes are not only familiar with Europe's youngest competition but are eager to go all the way.

The tantalising taste of a European trophy - even such a modest one - is tempting their senses, especially since Tottenham and some other respectable names are already out of the ECL.

"Now that we're in this competition, we want to win it. We'll give everything we can to do that, "said Rodgers ahead of the Randers tie, scheduled for Thursday night at Kings Park Stadium.

Leicester are without a win in five matches in all competitions and sit 11th in the Premier League table - ten points behind seventh-placed Wolves with 16 matches to go.

Winners of the inaugural Europa Conference League will automatically qualify for the 2022/23 Europa League group stage.

Asked if winning the competition represented Leicester's best chance of playing in Europe next season, Rodgers said:

"No. We can finish in the top seven. We have an opportunity to still do that. We want to finish as high as we can, and if we show the level we did in the second half on Sunday [against West Ham], we can have a positive end to the season. That's our aim, to be in Europe, " concluded he.
