Rescue-oriented: Man City come from behind to top charming third-tier side

Leyton Orient were remarkable and brave against the giant, even got in front with a mouth-watering goal. But it just wasn't enough...

Manchester City are through to the FA Cup last 32 after successfully coming from behind to beat Leyton Orient 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Cityzens were almost on the verge of elimination at the hands of the charming EFL League One minnow, who fought bravely until the very last second but lacked the experience and a tad bit of luck to record one of the most significant upsets in the history of the world's oldest competition.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola is surely glad his side avoided extra-time or penalties, with the first leg of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid being just three days away.

However, he must have been more than worried after Jamie Donley scored an impressive opener from almost the halfway line.

It was a genuine belter as the stands of the charming 9,000-seater erupted, as a stunning long-range effort went in after hitting the crossbar and off the goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

Unfortunately for the third-division slot, Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin De Bruyne cancelled out that in the second half, with a substantial amount of luck.

Still, Guardiola's decision to opt for De Bruyne and Foden in the second half shows how bad things were looking for the EPL reigning champion. The former netted the winner after Grealish sent him a perfect through ball, and a slight hesitation of the O's keeper, Josh Keeley, allowed KDB to slot it low into the far corner for the important win.

Leyton Orient's Happe was inches away from equalizing deep into the stoppage-time, but it stayed 1-2 as the giants survived another FA Cup challenge.
