AFC Leopards have been handed a major boost as the team prepares for Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) fixture against Bandari FC after forward Victor Omune resumed training with the club.

Omune picked up a knee injury while in action against Kariobangi Sharks in the second last match of the 2022-2023 season played in June.

AFC silenced the Sharks 1-0 although lost their hit man who was a regular starter for the better part of the past season and would go on to start the season without his services.

The injury also saw the former KCB player miss the final phase of the pre-season activities.

Omune who has now resumed training is presumed fit enough to fight for playing time heading to round six of the 2023-2024 season.

His return is welcomed at the den as they have struggled to find the back of the net this campaign netting only three times in five league action.

Last season, Omune played an instrumental role in AFC Leopards' performance, helping the team achieve a seventh-place finish in the highly competitive FKF Premier League. That was won by Gor Mahia.

His standout moment came when he netted an astonishing four goals in a resounding 6-0 victory over FC Talanta, etching his name in the annals of Kenyan football history.

This remarkable feat marked him as the first player to achieve such a milestone in an FKF Premier League match since Masud Juma accomplished it for Kariobangi Sharks against Muhoroni Youth back in 2017

Leopards under former Coach Thomas Juma have been using the pair of Brian Yakhama and Victor Otieno supported by Clifton Miheso in the hunt for goals but the pair has however, failed to reward the now departed gaffer with club recording three goals in five matches.

The auspicious winger is however, aware of the competition created in the team with the arrival of Hassan Beja and Boniface Munyendo from Nzoia Sugar but he is ready to put in a fight to grab his position in Tomas Trucha starting team.

Despite returning from injury the player won’t be throw immediately into league action but will however, lead a contingent of AFC Leopards players set to battle FKF Division One side Zoo FC in Mashujaa Day Cup at Kericho Green Stadium, Kericho on Friday.
