The forward scored 13 goals last term to emerge second best scorer behind Zoo's Summy Ggolola

Sigalagala National Polythetic FC forward Samuel Ambalu believes that he has all it takes to clinch the 'Golden Boot' in the ongoing FKF Division One season.

Ambalu is in his second season in the third tier after impressing with the students last term, a campaign that saw the 22-year-old net 13 non-penalty goals to emerge as the second-best scorer in the league.

The net-buster told Mozzart Sport that winning the individual award and helping the club get promoted were all he was seeking to achieve in the new campaign.

Sigalagala, who in their maiden season managed to wrestle the league big boys to a fifth-place finish on 40 points, have started the season on a high note with Ambalu's brace over the weekend handing them an injury-time win away to Zoo FC over the weekend.

"I want to be the top scorer in the league and help Sigalagala get promoted. I believe in myself and in the team that the coach has put in place. The management has tried to avail us of everything we need to excel," he said.

The young goalkeeper declined moves to second-tier clubs and other FKF Division clubs to stay at the Poly and continue his development as an attacker and make a good move at the conclusion of the current campaign.

I had several moves last term, and since it was my breakthrough season, I saw it better to continue here, prove myself, then scale to high levels when the opportunity is ripe,” he added.

The forward, who can also slot into the flanks confidently, further revealed that he still has more to offer for the school team if he wants to establish himself among the best in the country

“Football is not easy; you have to rack in numbers every matchday to get yourself among the elites, and that’s what I desire to give for my team, and by doing so, I want to create a name for myself as a typical number nine. The coaching from our technical team is amazing, and I believe soon I will rank among the best and secure a better chance to display my skills.” He concluded

Next for the David Amboso-coached team is a home match against the noisy neighbours Green Commandos, at the Sigalagala Poly Grounds on Sunday.
