His contract at the Swedish club expires on 21 December 2024, leaving room for a potential winter transfer window exit
It is increasingly looking as if Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma will be on the exit doors of his club - AIK Fotboll - this January, Swedish publication Expressen reported on Friday 24 November.
The news, highly rumored for some time, indicate that the 27 year old, coming to the final year of his four year contract at the club, is hot property for “clubs from, among others, Spain and France.”
“There is a lot of talk that the left-back will be sold during the winter window,” a section of the Expressen report added. “AIK and Otieno will reportedly agree in principle that he will be allowed to go as far as a sufficiently good offer from a foreign club appears.
“Now the hunt for the Kenyan is intensifying.”
With the left back still carrying a 30 percent sell-on clause from his previous club Vasalund, and one that has seen various attempts by other clubs to acquire him rebuffed, it is now expected that AIK will be “willing to let go of the hill if the right bid comes.”
“This summer, AIK had concrete offers for Otieno, but then they refused to sell, due to the precarious position in the table,” the publication added. “In addition, none of the bids were at the right level.
“This time, the parties have a greater hope of reaching an agreement regarding a transfer and, as is well known, roughly 30 percent of the transfer sum will go to Vasalund.”
The development comes just a week after the Kenyan, who featured for Harambee Stars in the second 2026 World Cup Qualifying fixture against Seychelles, switched his management.
Ouma will now be represented by global sports agency 11 MAN Soccer Management, who replace his former agent - Atotos Sports Management.
With the Swedish top tier league season on a break after reaching its conclusion on 12 November 2023, it remains to be seen if a move to the European top five leagues will be on the cards for Ouma.
