Real Madrid looks like it’s in a desperate state, seemingly just looking for a way to offload Rodrygo

Rodrygo is generating plenty of buzz in this summer’s transfer market – and Liverpool might now hold the upper hand.

Spanish outlet Marca reports that Real Madrid recently proposed an eye-catching swap with Arsenal: Rodrygo for William Saliba – but the Gunners turned it down. The Brazilian winger is reportedly open to a move and is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

Last week, ESPN revealed that Rodrygo would favor Anfield if he were to leave Madrid, despite attention from both Arsenal and Manchester City. Real Madrid’s plan: offer Rodrygo (valued at 90 milion euros) in exchange for William Saliba, whose Arsenal contract runs until 2027.

The Spanish giants have long been interested in the French center-back. However, Mikel Arteta rejected the proposal – and according to Marca, although Rodrygo was once considered by Arsenal, a straight 1:1 swap was never on the table.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s spending spree continues. Even after investing roughly 230 milion euros in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong, the Reds are still in the market. Their financial situation supports further marquee signings – including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Should talks with Newcastle fall through, Rodrygo could quickly become Liverpool’s primary target.
