The Parisians hijacked the Italian from Juventus and the Dutchman from Barcelona

Paris Saint Germain is desperate to show the world they are a top club. The Parisian, and particularly their owner want to attract the best players, and the the best players change clubs because of money, other best players or a quality league. France is arguable the weakest of the top 5 European leagues, so PSG is offering more money to lure players.

The latest examples are Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma. While the Dutchman’s transfer to Barcelona and reunion with his former coach Ronald Koeman was a ’done deal’, PSG stepped in and tested the Gino’s love for his coach with a double wage offer. The result? Wijnaldum will be in Paris soon, for a 1.3 billion Ksh per year. Not bad for a 30-year old. And he can see Koeman in the offseason if he likes him that much.

Out of the blue, PSG are clear favorites to sign Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. With excellent Keylor Navas on goal, many failed to see the point of bringing another goalkeeper who commands a playing time, especially if he is the most talented Italian goalkeeper with infamous Mino Raiola as his manager. But if we look deeper, things seem more logical. It is rare to see a top goalkeeper available on a free transfer and considering his age (22), PSG sporting director Leonardo just couldn’t pass on the opportunity.

So, what he did? He actually paid a heavy price, a five year contract reportedly worth around 8 billion Ksh (bonuses included), but he secured a future top keeper which will be sent on a loan. Donnarumma will earn 1.3 billion Ksh a year, exactly what his agent wanted from Milan, but didn’t get, and he will stay in Italy, as Roma is interested to take him for the 2022 season. So, in June 2022, Navas will be 36 and it will be time for Giggi to take over for at least another four years.

And another great story concerning Giggi’s transfer. At one point, Barcelona was also in the race for the year old, but according to journalist San Antonio, it was only a smoke screen by the president Joan Laporta. Mino Raiola, who has excellent relationship with Laporta wanted to raise his commission from whichever club finally signs the Italian goalkeeper. Laporta did a favor to his friend and also made PSG pay a bit more than they wanted, which is quite fine for him, since the Parisians became a bitter rivals with Barca, with the Wijnaldum transfer being the latest battle of this ongoing „war“. Raiola’s infamous comissions can be up to 2,6 billion Ksh according to reports.

Next on the list is Achraf Hakimi. Inter Milan’s right back had a terrific season, and normally wouldn’t be available for sale, but Inter’s owner said that the club needs to balance the books, so Morocco international is available. The problem is the price. PSG would like around 8 billion Ksh, while Inter wants at least 10, since they bought him from Real for 6 billion. The Parisians thought that 8 billion plus a player or two would be enough, but Inter want the cash and no additional players, as all PSG footballers are on a high wage, which doesn’t suit Nerazzuri. If you ask Hakimi, he likes the idea and has already agreed personal terms with the Parisians.
