The Parisians brushed Olympique Lyon aside 3-1, finally won after two consecutive Ligue 1 draws, and secured a seven-point advantage on the table

After two unexpected Ligue 1 draws against Nantes (1-1) and Auxerre (0-0), Paris Saint-Germain finally won, exploiting Olympique Marseille and Monaco's ties to increase the gap to seven points and enjoy the view from the top of the table.

Olympique Lyon did not have a good time in the capital, as Pierre Sage's men were not much of a challenge for the Saints, who easily noted their 11th Ligue 1 triumph - 3-1.

The game was over even before it began since the home team was 2-0 up after only 14 minutes behind Ousmane Dembele's opener and Vitinha's penalty goal. Still, the 19-year-old Desire Doue was the most deserved of the early lead, assisting for the first and conceding a spot kick for the second goal.

Georges Mikautadze gave the visitors a ray of hope, reducing the gap five minutes before the break, but it turned out that Lyon lacked the strength to make a comeback. Doue's 53rd-minute goal was disallowed due to Achraf Hakimi's offside, but Les Gones could not be saved 35 minutes later when Goncalo Ramos netted his first Ligue 1 goal of the season, making it 3-1.

Although in a comfortable position, the Saints will play their duel of the 16th round in only two days, two weeks before the rest of the league. It'll be a derby clash against third-placed Monaco and the champions' eventual defeat would return excitement to the title race.
