Kenyans have been urged to show up in large numbers and cheer the girls, just as they have been doing with the men's national team, Harambee Stars.
“I want to urge our fans to turn up just like they did for the boys. They [fans] should just come out in large numbers, and we will for sure not let them down,” Harambee Starlets defender Ruth Ingosi told FKF Media.
On her part, Violet Nanjala who plies her trade in Saudi expressed optimism in the team’s ability to qualify to the continental tourney.
“We are now finalising our preparations - it is only two days left and we have done our part to be ready.
The game will not be easy, but we believe in the work that we have done, and also the big opportunity that lies in front of us when we win,” she stated.
Kenya are seeking their first qualification to the continental tourney since they last competed in the 2016 edition in Cameroon, and fans will be crucial if Starlets are to gain qualification.
The Beldine Odemba-coached side qualified for the final round after eliminating Tunisia 1-0 on aggregate, while The Gambia saw off Niger 4-1 on aggregate.
