Macharia was recognised during an award ceremony held on Thursday, 9 April, on the sidelines of the team's training session at the Thogoto Teachers College.
The former Tusker FC man emerged victorious, beating stiff competition from AFC Leopards attacking midfielder Tyson Otieno, Ulinzi Stars striker Paul Okoth, as well as Mara Sugar defender Robinson Musungu.
Macharia was spurred on to victory courtesy of his four goals in March, the most by any player in the league, proving his significance to the Mailmen.
Posta began the month on the wrong foot, losing 1-0 to Murang'a Seal before settling for a 1-1 draw with Gor Mahia, a match in which Macharia opened the scoring in the seventh minute before a goalkeeping error in the 87th minute allowed Ebenezer Assifuah to score an equaliser.
'Dancing Rasta', as he is fondly referred to by fans due to his dreadlocks, then helped Posta end an 11-match winless streak by opening the scores in the seventh minute as the Mailmen went on to down defending champions Kenya Police FC 2-0.
Macharia, who was facing his immediate former employers, was so impressive that Police FC chairman Munga Nyale acknowledged him with a monetary reward after the match.
The former Thika United star was even more influential for the Collins 'Korea' Omondi-coached side in their match against Kariobangi Sharks when he scored a brace to catapult Posta to a 2-1 victory and ease their relegation fears.
A 2-0 defeat for Posta in their encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz saw Macharia end the month with four goals, helping his side bag seven points in the process.
Speaking during the ceremony, an elated Macharia believes that the recognition will add morale while also taking time to acknowledge the role played by coach Omondi in achieving it.
“I am humbled, happy and excited to receive this award. It is an award that every player would like to receive at some point in his career, and it is therefore a motivation for my teammates and me to work even harder.
The performance was largely due to the trust that the coach had in me, which meant that I also had to repay it with good performance.”
For his impressive exploits, Macharia received a personalised trophy as well as a Ksh50,000 cash prize.
