Norway demolished Moldova 11-1 last night, while Man City striker netted five goals, but still had compassion for the rival's custodian

Last night, Norway became the first national team to score 11 goals in a single FIFA World Cup qualifying game since 1996. At the same time, Erling Haaland became the first player to score five goals in a WC qualifier since 1977.

Still, even though Norway demolished Moldova 11-1, Man City's net-buster showed compassion for the rival's custodian and was very polite, which the keeper Cristian Avram confirmed, speaking to the Norwegian TV 2.

"Hello, I'm the goalkeeper for Moldova and I conceded eleven goals," the 31-year-old introduced himself to the audience before commenting on Haaland and his good manners.

"I spoke to Erling. He said: 'It's not my fault,' and that he just had to keep trying to score because of the goal difference. I understand him. It's part of the game. He wanted to keep fighting," Avram said.

When asked if this was the first time he conceded 11 goals, the keeper felt slightly offended, but admitted that he'd just have to move on as soon as possible.

"Yes, of course it's the first time. Look at me, what can I say? I'm not going to die. I have to stay strong. In a few days I have another match. But eleven goals is a lot," he stated.

In the end, he even got support from his counterpart in Norway's goal, Orjan Nyland.

"Fortunately, I haven't experienced this myself. I can imagine that this wasn't very pleasant. I feel for him," said Sevilla's goalie.

After this crushing triumph, Norway still top the qualifying Group I with a six-point edge ahead of Italy and Israel, and are very close to securing their place in the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1998, to which Avram completely agreed.

"Listen, brother. The way they have started this qualification and developed this team, they will of course qualify for the World Cup," Moldova's keeper concluded.
