Ismael Saibari could hardly have imagined a better day – goal for his national team and a move to a European giant

What a few hours it has been in the life of Ismael Saibari! It’s hard to imagine a better scenario.

On Sunday, the Morocco international scored against Brazil to give his team the lead before the match eventually ended 1-1. Just a few hours later, on the very same day, he received the news that he is set to join Bayern Munich.

The PSV Eindhoven attacker, whose natural position is attacking midfielder, is expected to become a new player for the German champions within the next few days. French football journalist Santi Aouna reported that Bayern and PSV have reached a verbal agreement over Saibari’s transfer. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.

Bayern have also scheduled the Moroccan’s medical examinations for next week. The PSV forward is set to sign a contract running until the summer of 2031.

It appears that Saibari’s stunning goal against Brazil convinced Bayern to speed up negotiations. Just a few days earlier, Sky Sport had reported that talks between the clubs were progressing slowly and were proving difficult, with the outcome far from certain. However, perhaps fearing that another club could enter the race, the Bavarians suddenly managed to reach an agreement with the Dutch side.

The Moroccan international, who was actually born in Spain, is coming off an excellent season in the Netherlands. Saibari made 37 appearances in all competitions for PSV, scoring 19 goals and providing nine assists.

He is capable of playing as a striker and as a central midfielder, although his best performances have come in the attacking midfield role.
