Paraguayan legend made another scandalous remark, this time ahead of the France game
The greatest player in Paraguayan history is becoming a laughing stock (or he already became that). Jose Luis Chilavert was a role model so many young goalkeepers not only in Paraguay but around the globe. But once he ended his glorious career and started opening his mouth and talking, things got ugly. The vast majority of goalkeepers who saw Chilavert as their role model, are now disgusted by his language and comments, and probably wish he never spoke at all. This time, he got angry with comments made by a former French player and decided to reply with a racist remark.
🚨🗣️ Chilavert (Paraguayan legend): "Back in the 1998 World Cup, we faced the French national team."

It all started with another former French player with a ‘poison tounge’ - Christophe Dugarry. Know for his strong comments, mostly in order to be at the headlines in France, he appeared on the RMC show and didn't hold back when discussing Paraguay, offering nothing but criticism for the South American side that had just knocked Germany out of the World Cup.
"Paraguay are going to get hammered. They'll just try to defend because they're incapable—incapable, I'll say it twice so it's perfectly clear—of playing any kind of football. Going forward, they're absolutely dreadful" Dugarry said.
Paraguayan legend Jose Luis Chilavert was quick to respond.
"Christophe, you're right. At the 1998 World Cup we faced France. This time, Paraguay will be facing an African team" he wrote on his X account. Paraguay met France in the Round of 16 at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, with Les Bleus advancing thanks to Laurent Blanc's famous golden goal in the 113th minute. France then edged past Italy and Croatia in two more hard-fought knockout matches before routing Brazil in the final to lift their first World Cup trophy.
Jose Luis Chilavert captained Paraguay and was the team's first-choice goalkeeper at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Back then, he did his talking on the pitch. In recent months, however, he has become increasingly outspoken off it. More recently, during the Prestianni-Vinicius affair, where the Argentinian is accused of having uttered racist insults towards the Brazilian, he said, for example, that he was "totally in solidarity with Prestianni." "Vinicius is the first to insult everyone. And then, who is in solidarity with Vinicius? Mbappe! He talks about values but lives with a transgender person, that's not normal" he declared.
