According to a State House statement issued on Thursday, Museveni directed officials to begin consultations with their counterparts in Kenya and Tanzania to fast-track the proposal ahead of the continental showpiece.
If adopted, the single-entry visa would allow football fans, tourists, match officials and participating teams to move freely across the three host nations for up to four months without requiring separate visas.
"This is common sense. I support it [single-entry visa]," Museveni said during a meeting with Uganda's AFCON Local Organising Committee (LOC) at State House in Entebbe on Wednesday.
The proposal was tabled by the organising committee as it updated the president on Uganda's preparations for the tournament.
Museveni also reaffirmed his government's commitment to successfully staging the competition, pledging full financial backing, faster infrastructure development and closer collaboration with Kenya and Tanzania to ensure the tournament's success.
The 2027 AFCON is scheduled to run from Saturday, 19 June to Saturday, 17 July and will mark the first time the tournament is hosted jointly by three countries.
It will also be the first AFCON to be staged in East Africa since Ethiopia hosted the competition in 1976.
CAF estimates that more than 1.5 million fans will travel across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania during the month-long tournament, which is expected to attract a global television audience of more than 3.2 billion viewers.
The competition will be held under the theme "PAMOJA", the Swahili word for "Together", reflecting the spirit of unity behind the successful joint bid by the three East African nations and CAF's vision of using football to strengthen regional integration.
