Owoko wants more from Bullets after gunning down Kajiado

Bullets had lost the opening two rounds of the season prior to last weekend's match

Vihiga Bullets head coach George Owoko is challenging his players to build on their surprising 2-0 win over Kajiado and march towards gaining promotion.

Despite failing to collect maximum points in the opening two matches, Bullets showed that they mean business after thrashing Kajiado in their own backyard thanks to goals from Soita Muhammed and Japhet Apukey.

The win, according to the tactician who is nicknamed Lio, is a strong reflection of what the team has been doing behind the scenes in their quest to staging an automatic return to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

Bullets are in the second tier by virtue of demotion from the top-flight football after finishing rock bottom in the 2022-2023 season.

"The team is getting into shape after a shaky start to the season and I believe in the next few matches, we are going to get better with as we play more matches,” he said.

The former Tusker assistant coach has made himself a name for unearthing and nurturing young talents who have gone on to take the FKFPL by storm.

“We have a young team of players that need much attention and guidance. Throughout my coaching career I like working with such players and I believe it won’t be different here as we have a clear plan together,” added the former EPZ Balaji gaffer.

The experienced tactician further, pleaded with the club supporters to show up in big numbers in the coming match days to give the much-needed motivation to his players.

He however, noted that, lack of playing surfaces in Vihiga where the team originates from has adverse effect to their fanbase since majority find it difficult to access Mumias Complex on match days and therefore called out relevant county authorities to at least get a standard stadium in the rich talent hub region.

“We need fans to support us as much as they can, without them this is going to be a long season for my young squad.” He concluded.

Next for the Moses Akaranga-owned club is a huge test against Kisumu All Stars at the Mumias Sports Complex.
