Vini praises Real Madrid's "winning DNA" ahead of Wednesday's game

Real Madrid will officially start the new season with a UEFA Super Cup game on Wednesday, and it's a good opportunity for the most successful club in the world to demonstrate the mentality that won them the Champions League last season.

Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior is keen to start the new campaign like they finished the previous one - by lifting a trophy. Speaking to UEFA.com, he highlighted his club's mentality as a priceless asset ahead of the UEFA Super Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night.

"It is imperative to try to win as many games as possible, especially if you want to win competitions as important as the UEFA Super Cup. We will do all we can to win the first piece of silverware on offer in the season."

Last season, Karim Benzema and Rodrygo took just a few minutes to turn losing to Manchester City into a memorable victory. Vini wants more nights like that.

"That's just in the DNA of this club and this shirt, always turning up in important games, players who know how to approach games in this competition, so I believe it was a bit of everything. Some of the games were emotional rollercoasters and everything seemed to go our way."

Los Blancos went on to win the competition with the super talented Brazilian scoring in the final against Liverpool. But that's not the end of the road. Rather, it's just the first European crown of many.

"I look up to the players who have achieved so much at this club, who achieved those things at the biggest club in the world. Of course, I want to keep winning with Real Madrid and play for a long time to win as much as them – to win five or six Champions League titles. I'll try to be as influential as some of the greatest players to have worn this shirt."

Eintracht disastrously lost their Bundesliga opener, shipping six goals at home to Bayern. The prospect of facing the Champions League holders must be a daunting one for Oliver Glasner's team. Still, their fans are looking forward to it immensely - so much that they'll outnumber Real Madrid fans significantly. The Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The German fans have already snapped up 8,000 tickets allocated to them, while the Spanish club sold well under 2,000 tickets. There are 17,000 tickets on general sale to the delight of the Germans. Just like they filled up the stadium for their UEFA Europa League final win against Rangers last term, they will do so on Wednesday.

Regardless of the number of fans in the 35,000-capacity stadium, Real Madrid will be the favourites. It's in their DNA.
