Otieno named man of the match in Tormenta's win over Charlotte

Wanyama's Montreal lost to New York on Thursday morning

Kenyan midfielder Tobias Otieno scooped the man of the match award as Tormenta bounced back to wining ways after humbling Charlotte 2-0 in a USL match played on Thursday morning at the Legion Memorial Stadium.

According to statistics, the defensive midfielder made four clearances, won four duels and helped recover the ball twelve times. His accuracy in passing the ball was rated at 76 percent.

Otieno who made his debut for the club in June, almost six months after his acquisition from Union Omaha played the match to its full length.

Tormanta grabbed the lead in the sixth minute through Roy Sterling before Kingsford Adjei putting the result beyond the reach of Charlotte in the 76th minute. The latter found the back of the net after Otieno put him through.

Meanwhile, former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama was withdrawn in the second half in Montreal’s 1-0 loss to New York RB on Thursday morning.

Wanyama was substituted off in the 65th minute for Matko Miljevic as Montreal sought salvage at least a point from the game played at the Saputo Stadium.

Scottish attacker Lewis Morgan made the difference in the game as his goal in the 43rd minute separated the two teams after the full-time whistle.
