Otieno challenges Homeboyz to make Bukhungu a fortress

Abana Abeingo are scheduled to play Nzoia Sugar after the international break.

Kakamega Homeboyz attacking midfielder Hillary Otieno is calling on his teammates to make Bukhungu Stadium a fortress in a bid to mount a successful title campaign.

Homeboyz have been nonchalant when playing in front of home fans, something that doesn't sit well with the youthful Otieno, who was among the best performers in the second leg of the past season.

The Patrick Odhiambo-coached side have won a game, drawn twice, and tasted defeat against KCB in the four home matches they have played so far in the season.

Otieno avers that if the team can be clinical at Bukhungu, their chances of winning their first ever league title would be boosted in a massive way.

"It is unfortunate that we have been dropping points at home. If we can make it hard for other teams to get points at Bukhungu, then we stand a good chance of winning the league," said the midfielder.

Otieno joined Homeboyz in last season's mid-season transfer window from Muhoroni Youth and went on to play a crucial role in winning the Mozzart Bet Cup with the club.

His form in the second leg made him one of the most sought-after players in the transfer window, to the extent that club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula slapped a $5 million price tag on him.

However, the former Mombasa Elite player has struggled to find last season's form in the current one.

"I haven't had a good start on a personal level, but I know I will have a successful season. I am doing my best to rediscover my form, especially in scoring goals," he added.
