From a last-minute loan to a €75m deal, the Nigerian's move was masterminded by his agent, turning Napoli's hesitation into Galata's triumph
It was a shock to many when Victor Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan in September 2024, with the Turkish window the only one still open. Napoli had pursued offers from Premier League and Saudi Pro League clubs, but nothing materialised, leaving them stuck with a player eager for action.
When the loan ended in June 2025, Galatasaray secured Osimhen permanently for €75 million - a deal masterminded by his agent, Gardi.

Speaking to Sky Sports Deutschland, Gardi revealed just how pivotal his influence was.
"At the end of the market last year, I called the coach and the club to propose this player, and they thought it was a joke," Gardi confessed. "They did not take me seriously. Victor Osimhen, one of the best strikers in the world - why would he come to Galatasaray at 26? Why would Napoli let him go?"
Gardi detailed how these last-minute moves are never about luck...
"It happened with Icardi, Davinson Sanchez, Zaniolo… all these players arrive at the end of the market. The last days are decisive - contract details change, deals collapse, and you have to act fast. I had only a few hours to execute the plan."
Napoli had Osimhen under a new contract with a release clause of around €110 million, yet when no clubs met that figure, Gardi stepped in, decreasing the clause to €75 million and orchestrating the loan.
"There were problems at the airport, UEFA lists closing, Osimhen unsure… it was two of the longest hours of my career. But he had determination, and I convinced him to come."
Looking back, Gardi admits Napoli may regret letting him go so cheaply.
"He's one of the best Number 9s in the world. €75 million was a great operation for Galatasaray, especially considering today's market. Napoli thought it was high then, but the market has since soared."
Osimhen's move not only shocked the football world but also highlighted the strategic genius behind modern transfer manoeuvres - proof that timing, persistence, and a clear plan can turn a last-minute gamble into a masterstroke.
