The Catalan club is in a deep search for Robert Lewandowski’s successor, and the brilliant Nigerian has just been added to the list
At FC Barcelona, preparations for life after Robert Lewandowski are already underway – and now a new name has emerged as a potential replacement: Victor Osimhen! Transfer specialist Ekrem Konur reports that the Nigerian forward, currently at Galatasaray, has made it onto the Catalans’ shortlist.
Osimhen only joined Galatasaray permanently last summer after a successful loan stint in Istanbul, in a deal worth a staggering 75 million euros. And that price tag could once again pose a challenge for the La Liga giants.

Barcelona remains heavily in debt, making mega-transfers like this extremely difficult. The striker’s contract with Galatasaray runs until 2029, and the club would naturally want to recover at least the 75 million euros spent on him – if not more.
How Barca could finance such a move is still unclear. According to reports, Osimhen is currently only being considered conceptually, with no concrete negotiations yet, though that could change next summer.
The urgency stems from Lewandowski’s contract, which expires at the end of the season. While Barcelona technically has the option to extend it for another year, that seems unlikely. Spanish outlet Sport claims the Pole is set to depart, leaving Barca in need of a striker with international quality. Osimhen reportedly ticks all the boxes. PSG is also said to be keeping tabs on the Nigerian forward.
As for Lewandowski himself, Manchester United – particularly manager Ruben Amorim – has reportedly expressed interest in signing him. However, the move seems off the table, with United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly rejecting the idea in favor of signing a player with more years ahead. At 37, Lewandowski is approaching the twilight of his illustrious career.
