Real Madrid shockingly lost against Getafe at home

When it comes to refereeing in La Liga, the main protagonists are always Real Madrid. Their famous TV ‘dissects’ every referee before their games and points at any potential mistakes he made in the past against Real. Nobody can stop this unprecedented pressure on the referees and we often see them doing Real favors. The last time Real and Getafe met was in Round 9 in October 2025. The game was decided when the referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero gave a straight red card Nyom and VAR didn‘t intervene even thou it was a clear mistake. In the next attack, Mbappe scored the only goal of the match.

In Monday’s game, Rudiger collided with Diego Rico, kicking him in the head with his knee. Again VAR remained silent and the German defender not only avoided the red card, Getafe didn’t even got a foul! Still, the justice was served as the guests took all three points thanks to their keeper and a wonder striker by Satriano: Real Madrid – Getafe 0-1. As always, the guests played anti-football but this time gave the referee no reason to point at the penalty spot or give their players a red card. They defended well, which was a problem for Real, especially without their top striker Kylian Mbappe. The hosts had some good chances (Vinicius, Guler, Rodrygo) but apart from the match winner Satriano, Getafe keeper Soria was excellent and saved all chances. Real Madrid have won 21 of their last 24 matches against Getafe in LaLiga, scoring a total of 55 goals but that streak was snapped on Monday night.

Vinicius should have scored after only 15 minutes of play. It was an error by Getafe, defenders, Gonzalo recovered the ball and played a long ball to the Brazilian forward who was one-on-one with Soria but the goalkeeper sticked out his foot to sent it out for a corner. After 10 minutes another great chance from Real but again Soria was there to save Getafe’s net, this time after a powerful shot by Guler. And then a shameful situation happened. Rudiger collided with Diego Rico; he maybe didn’t meant it, but still, he hit the player in the head with his knee. No foul, no yellow or red card, no VAR. We have seen numerous times that players committed fouls by accident and still received yellow or red cards, but when it comes to Real players, it looks like the rules are different. It Getafe players and fans were shocked by this decision, Real fans and players were shocked in the 39th minute. After a duel, the ball came to Satriano, whose screamer from the edge of the penalty box gave the guests a surprise lead.

It was expected that Real would storm on the guests in the second half, but they actually failed to create any meaningful chances until the 75th minute, when Rudiger’s header from three meters went wide of the post. Even better chance occurred minutes later after a shot from Rodrygo. The ball was destined for a goal, but Soria miraculously tipped it just enough to prevent a goal. Carvajal was running for it on the other post, but just missed it by centimeters. It was a huge chance for an equalizer and also the last one of the match. The only thing which Real players managed to do was to get a red card. Young Franco Mastantuono said something to the referee in injury time and got a straight red card. After him, it was Liso who got the second yellow card, but still, only three points matter.
