The midfielder was wishing to grace top flight football this season

Despite missing the chance to join Shabana, midfielder Kepha Ondati hasn't given up on gracing the top flight for the second time in his career.

Ondati was close to joining the league returnees in the off-season transfer window from Zoo FC but the move hit a snag at the eleventh hour.

Disappointed with the failed transfer, a move that would have seen him return to the biggest stage, Ondati ditched the Kericho based club for National Super League side Mulembe United.

Ondati who has previously been linked to a number of top-flight clubs including Sofapaka, Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz says the botched move will not kill his resolve to play at the highest level.

The creative midfielder who had been attached with Zoo since 2014 says he intends to give his best at Mulembe and catch the attention of top flight clubs.

"I was close to joining Shabana in the past window but all did not go well. I was yearning for top flight football but I wasn't successful in the pursuit. However, I am sure I will make it in the next window," he said.

Meanwhile, Ondati is looking forward to debuting for the rebranded club this weekend when they host MCF.

He missed the last two rounds against Kajiado and Mathare United due to administrative issues. Mulembe lost both matches in identical 2-1 score lines.

"I am hopeful of getting some minutes against MCF. I am praying for a good start and an injury-free season with the club," he added.

The club rebranded to Mulembe earlier this month from Vihiga United and had it transfer ban lifted after paying Nigerian player Junior Adeyefa.
