The defender got a call to the national U23 team during his time at Zoo.

Muhoroni Youth defender Alex Onchwari is happy to be playing in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League for the second time after joining the club last month.

Onchwari debuted in the top flight in 2021 with Zoo FC, but he didn’t last long enough in the competition as the Kericho-based club was relegated to the second tier.

Zoo were later dropped to the FKF Division One Zone B league by the Caretaker Committee last year.

Onchwari joined Muhoroni barely a week before the start of the current season and played in the opening two rounds against Nairobi City Stars and Nzoia Sugar.

Onchwari moved to the Somali Premier League last year but returned to Kenya to quench what he termed his thirst for the FKFPL.

I am happy to be gracing the Kenyan top flight again. I tried my best to navigate my way back to the competition after Zoo were relegated, but my efforts didn’t bear fruit. I want to give my best and achieve my targets in my first full season in the FKFPL,” he said.

Onchwari, vowed to capitalize on the platform offered by Muhoroni and work towards securing his first Harambee Stars call-up.

The defender got a call to the national U23 team during his time at Zoo.

I have huge career dreams this season, including getting a call up to the national team. It is possible with hard work and determination,” he offered.

Besides that, the centre back hopes to turn professional at the end of the season as well as inspire Muhoroni to a respectable finish.

The biggest target remains doing everything possible in order for the team to get positive results. The team survived the promotion/relegation playoff last season, and we wouldn’t want a repeat of the same,” he added.
