Tusker have managed four points in two games.
Tusker FC assistant captain Michael Kibwage has welcomed the point earned by his side against the Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday and believes that the international break will come in handy for his side.
The Brewers had to come from a goal down to secure a point in a one-all draw with Sharks at their Ruaraka backyard. Keith Imbali opened the scoring for the Sharks before a Levin Odhiambo deflected cross cum shot earned Robert Matano’s charges a point.
The team has now managed four points in two games after the opening day win over Bandari, heading into the two-week international break to allow Harambee Stars to feature in friendly games against Qatar and South Sudan in the next nine days.
Speaking to the club’s media after the Sunday game, the former AFC Leopards, KCB, and Sofapaka FC man admitted that before kickoff, their plan was to get the maximum point against William Muluya’s men.
"The truth is, we wanted maximum points from this game, but unfortunately, things didn't go as we had planned. When they scored, pressure was on our side to look for two goals in order to win the game, but we managed one, and we are grateful for the point earned," he said.
The defender further lauded his team’s fighting spirit after that early second-half setback.
"Credit to the whole team for fighting to the end. Conceding first can be demoralizing, but we showed character because there's always a chance to score as long as the game is still ongoing".
As the clubs head to the international break, the Kenyan international believes that the two-week recess will come in handy for his team as they look to integrate the new signings fully into the team.
"The break will be good for us as a team because we have many young players and newcomers in the squad, and the international break will help us bond further. It is time to improve our fitness and polish before the league resumes," he added.
Tusker’s next game is an away assignment against Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.
