Omasete explains why 3K FC are refusing to rush into signings

3K FC head coach Nicodemus Omasete has explained the thinking behind the club's quiet transfer window, insisting the newly-promoted side will resist the temptation to overhaul its squad.

The tactician says the club will, instead, place its faith in the players who secured promotion to the FKF Premier League.

The Embu-based club is gearing up for its first-ever season in the Kenyan top flight after finishing second in the National Super League last term.

While several promoted teams have moved aggressively to strengthen their squads, 3K FC has taken a measured approach, with no new arrivals confirmed despite a handful of trialists training with the team in recent weeks.

Having finished last season with a 26-man squad, only four players have departed, leaving Omasete with a strong core of 22 players.

Although the club can still register up to eight more players under FKF Premier League regulations, the coach says any additions will be driven purely by quality rather than numbers.

Speaking to the club's media, Omasete revealed that the decision to retain the bulk of the promotion-winning squad was made long before the season ended.

"Towards the end of last season, we decided we would keep 90% of the squad that got us promoted to the KPL. We had about 26 players, and we've retained 22 players. For new signings, we are only bringing players who will come in and add quality."

The tactician believes continuity gives 3K FC a stronger foundation heading into the unfamiliar challenge of top-flight football, adding that the club has no intention of making signings simply for the sake of being active in the market. Instead, the focus is on recruiting players who can immediately improve the starting eleven.

"We are not going to sign players who are coming to sit on the bench. We already have the spine of our team. We are only going to sign quality. We will not panic-sign anyone. If an opportunity comes, we will only bring a player who we think can come in and start right away."

Omasete also drew encouragement from the commitment shown by the players the club has chosen to keep, revealing that almost every member of the retained squad has already committed their future to 3K FC.

For the coach, that level of loyalty is a key ingredient as the club prepares for the biggest season in its history.

"99% of the players we decided to retain have already signed contracts with the club, and that's a very good sign. We want players who want to play for the club. We are not desperate. This is a proud community club. We will bring in players who will feel very proud fighting for the badge of this great club."
