Norwegian thanked them and sent them away from Old Trafford - now they bask in Serie A glory with Inter Milan
For the first time since Jose Mourinho's treble-winners in 2010, Inter are to be crowned Serie A champions after an incredible second-half of the season streak towards the Scudetto.
Similar to what he did with Chelsea in 2017, manager Antonio Conte injected his temperament into the squad and made them champion-material.
Italian assembled a title-winning side which includes four ex-Manchester United players: Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez and Matteo Darmian.
Lukaku posted a photo as he posed with three Inter team-mates who used to all play together with the Belgian at Old Trafford. It can be interpreted as a message to the Red Devils and for them to see what took for granted.
Thank you so much @ManUtd ❤.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw all four them as surplus and they were all sold within a year of his appointment as permanent manager in March 2019.
Lukaku, who is Inter's top scorer this season with 21 goals and second best in Serie A trailing just after Cristiano Ronaldo, was the first to leave in 2019 for 96 million USD (10.2 billion KSH).
Since coming to Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, corpulent forward revived his form.
A little bit later that same year, Sanchez - one of the biggest 'hit-and-runs' of Man United - joined Inter on loan before his deal at Old Trafford was terminated.
The Chilean did not contribute as much as Lukaku, with scoring only five goals in 27 Serie A appearances this season.
However, despite not being a guaranteed starter, the 32-year-old has won a league title, first one after winning La Liga with Barcelona in 2012. He failed in all his attempts with United and Arsenal in the Premier League.
Matteo Darmian meanwhile left for Parma in 2019. He scored a vital late winner against Hellas Verona which kept Inter on track for the Scudetto.
Being on loan with the Nerazzurri, the new Italian champions could make the deal permanent for 'just' for 2.5 million USD (267 million KSH).
Last but not least - Ashley Young. He was the last one to leave the Theater of Dreams in January 2020 in a transfer just over 2 million USD (222 million KSH).
Young was Manchester United captain when he left the club but Solskjaer did not see his presence being of much importance.
The England wing back won the Premier League back in 2013 and now, after making 31 appearances for Inter in all competitions, he has another league title to his name.
