Mozzart Sport exclusively reported on his departure on 23 July

After weeks of speculation, it is now official that Harambee Stars attacking midfielder Mohammed Bajaber is a Simba Sports Club player, following his unveiling by the Tanzanian Premier League (TPL) side on Saturday, 2 August.

The announcement, preluded by a 16-second teaser on the club's official social media platforms, caps a rumor-filled off-season, which brought forth much speculation about the 22-year-old's future.

In a brief statement on X, Simba, 22-time TPL champions, wrote: "Welcome to Simba SC, Mohamed Bajaber."

The move comes exactly nine days after Mozzart Sport exclusively reported on Bajaber's imminent departure, which follows his excellent season in the FKF Premier League and national football team Harambee Stars.

A whirlwind year saw Bajaber kick off the 2024-2025 FKFPL season with relegation-battling Nairobi City Stars, to winning the title with Kenya Police FC, in what was the maiden league triumph for the law-enforcers.

In between those contrasts was an explosive showing for the national team under new coach Benni McCarthy, where the dimunitive midfielder came off the bench to curl in a sumptuous equalizer on his international debut against The Gambia.

Sources close to the transfer indicate that Bajaber has signed a two-year-deal with his new side, with his parent side Kenya Police milking Ksh12.9m ($100,000) in fees.

The outlay, when confirmed, will present a Ksh11.9 million profit for the Kenyan champions, who coughed Ksh1 million to acquire the youngster from Nairobi City Stars.

Alike to his quick shuffle between clubs, Bajaber's move comes on the eve of the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN), a tournament the Starfield Academy product was poised to star in, but pulled out in part to complete the Simba move, and also due to a lingering thigh injury.

Head coach McCarthy, after missing Bajaber's services in a pair of June friendlies in Morocco, made apparent his regard of the midfielder by recently calling him up to the CHAN squad, albeit recognizing the fact that he carried an injury, and would only be available in the latter stages of the tournament group stages.

It was only earlier this week that Bajaber was allowed to exit camp, when it became clear his hopes of playing infront of the Kenyan fans were minimal.

A flight to Tanzania has instead offered him a new lease of life, and a chance at making more history in the continent, with Simba a prominent feature in the CAF Champions League.

Bajaber, in addition to recovering from his grade two thigh muscle strain, is expected to jump into Fadlu David's squad for the upcoming season, which starts with a series of friendlies in Egypt.
