The Nzoia Sugar tactician admitted that it would have been impossible for him to continue with the Starlets job once he accepted to join his current club.

Former Harambee Starlets coach Godfrey Oduor has tipped the team to beat Cameroon in Tuesday’s return match of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier at Nyayo Stadium.

Starlets lost the first leg match 1-0 in Doula last Friday but Oduor believes the Kenyans can turn around the result.

“There is a big possibility for Starlets to turn around the result and win the match. All they need to do is to score early as that will give them the self-belief and the hunger to go for more goals, something that is important to win the match,” Oduor said as he watched the team train at Nyayo.

Oduor, now coaching Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Nzoia Sugar admitted that it would have been impossible for him to continue with the Starlets job once he accepted to join his current club.

“I would have loved to continue with the Starlets job, but my new responsibilities, as I was taking over a completely new team, made that impossible. Nzoia Sugar needed me and there was no way I would have left them for long periods of time. So, I had to let go of Starlets,” the coach, who was appointed as Starlets head coach in March but never got the opportunity to lead the national team in any competition after their friendly against Albania never materialized, admitted.

Oduor joined Nzoia Sugar two months ago replacing Salim Babu who resigned to link up with Kenya Police as an assistant coach.
