Odera challenges Muhoroni midfielders to help shoulder scoring burden

Muhoroni have been struggling in front of the goal as the club has scored three goals in seven matches

Muhoroni Youth head coach Charles Odera has challenged the club’s midfielders to help shoulder the goal-scoring burden after managing just three goals in the opening seven rounds of the season.

The club, Bandari, and AFC Leopards have a serious problem converting scoring chances, as the three have found the back of the net three times thus far, the lowest in the season.

While the three goals have reaped returns for Muhoroni and Bandari, who have a win and three, respectively, the same cannot be said about the Leopards, as the team has yet to celebrate maximum points.

To help solve the scoring problem, Odera is calling on the midfielders to join hands with Collins Neto and see the club win matches in a convincing way going forward.

Neto is the sole fit forward at the club, according to Odera, who regretted that an injury to Samuel Adebowale has made the situation worse.

The experienced Neto accounts for all three goals scored by the club so far in the campaign.

The problem we are facing at the moment is scoring. We only have one fit striker at the moment, and unfortunately, we can’t sign new players until January. The best way to solve the challenge is by involving our midfielders. We are asking them to try and use the scoring chances we get,” said Odera.

If we had more than two proven goal scorers and competition in the forward line, we would be winning matches comfortably,” he added.

Despite the slow start, Odera believes that the team will find footing and rhythm within a short period of time.

The former Chemelil Sugar tactician challenged the team to make Muhoroni a fortress so as to realize the plan of being in the top half.

We have been playing well but not scoring goals. If we solve the challenge, I reckon that we will be getting results in a consistent manner,” added Odera.

Muhoroni are set to host Murang’a Seal in round eight.
