Nzoia have just ten players left from their last season's squad

Nzoia Sugar FC new coach Godfrey Oduor is confident of assembling a good team before the season resumes after losing a big chunk of the players they had last season to opponents.

After finishing fourth in the league, the cash strapped millers were raided by opponents for almost 20 of their players. Coach Salim Babu also left the team for Kenya Police FC.

Oduor sealed a return to Nzoia last week after parting ways with KCB and he's now faced with a huge task of building a team with just over two weeks left before the season commences.

He admits that it is not going to be an easy task but is confident that with the aid of his members or technical bench.

"It's not going to be easy but together with my team we are going to do our best to ensure that we assemble a good team. Time is equally not on our side but we will try to give our best," he stated.

Nzoia have ten players left from last season's squad and 30 other trialists. They are expected to sign half of trialists and the coach says he has some quality players training with the team.

"We have so many talented players here. The amount of talent at our disposal is immense and we are going to bring on board good players. There's also the fact that these players are so determined to play and excel and so it's just a matter of imparting the technical know how in them and slowly by slowly we will be there," he added.

A number of former Nzoia Sugar FC players are also training with the team. Former captain Vincent Ngesa, Stephen Wakanya Collins Wakhungu and Kevin Wafula are among the players seeking to join the club and Oduor has rules out any preferential treatment for the old boys.

"We cannot live in the past because if we do that then we will easily deny other good players a chance to showcase what they can. All the players on trials have an equal chance and we will sign purely based on merit," he added.

Nzoia Sugar start the new season with a game against Ulinzi Stars FC.
