On Thursday morning, the FKF and Azam unveiled a seven-year broadcast partnership deal worth around Ksh 145 million per year which will increase by 100,000 USD, around Ksh 14,000,000 every year.
Former Football Kenya Federation President Sam Nyamweya has launched a scathing attack on the current federation supremo Nick Mwendwa and the recently signed broadcast deal with Azam TV.
On Thursday morning, the FKF and Azam unveiled a seven-year broadcast partnership deal worth around Ksh 145 million per year which will increase by 100,000 USD, around Ksh 14,000,000 every year.
Speak moments after the unveiling, Nyamweya said Mwendwa is using the deal to win the hearts of voters ahead of the FKF elections that should happen next year.
"The current FKF term ends in six months' time, why would the federation sign a seven-year broadcasting contract? We all know that Nick Mwendwa and his team want to use the Azam deal to slither their way back to office, but I urge the clubs and stakeholders to unite and send them home," Nyamweya said as quoted on Nation Sports.
Further, Nywamweya went on to question the amount Azam is bringing as compared to that they are giving the Tanzanian league, saying it is 'low valuation' of the FKFPL.
The seven-year deal is worth Ksh 1.4 billion, an amount almost similar to what the broadcaster is giving to the Tanzanian Premier League per year.
In 2021, Azam TV secured the Tanzania Premier League broadcasting rights in a deal worth Tsh225.6 billion, an equivalent of Ksh 13.1 billion across 10 years according to data provided by the African Football Data Center.
"The low valuation by Azam negotiators is a reflection of its true worth after eight years of mismanagement and out of the public glare since FKF took over from KPL," he added.
