Villa are fifth on the log on 11 points after seven rounds

Luanda Villa chairman Moses Absence believes they are on the right track in their debut National Super League (NSL) campaign.

The FKF Division One Zone B champions have had a fairytale start to the season and remain one of the two clubs yet to taste defeat in the second tier alongside debutants Nairobi United which leaves the Luanda-based club fifth on the log after playing out five stalemates and picking wins against Mombasa Elites and Kibera Black Stars.

Speaking exclusively to Mozzart Sport, the club boss hailed his playing unit and the coaching staff for the determination and courage showcased in the league despite being regarded as the minnows and performing beyond expectations in spite of the challenges they are facing.

The management is impressed by how the team is performing currently. Coming into a new league and terrorizing the veterans is not a mean achievement. The playing unit and the coaching staff deserve all the applauds for the shifts they are putting in despite the challenges facing the club,” he said

We did very minimal additions to the team and we can see there’s good understanding among the players. The results are not coming by chance but because we have also left the coaching role to head coach Tom Tera. He has a free hand in his work,” added the club boss.

The administrator outlined financial constraints as the main undoing for his ambitious team noting that they are struggling to monetize the players playing time, and revealing that the club has failed to remunerate allowances for three consecutive matches now.

We are struggling financially and it is really pulling us down. The players are determined but without money, the motivation eventually disappears because we only pay allowances which has not been done in three match weeks now. We are trying to engage various parties to have the problem resolved as soon as possible and make the guys happy and competitive,” offered Absence.

The knowledgeable football administrator further commented on the club's upcoming fundraiser set for Saturday 4 November, noting that the fund drive is meant to aid in the purchase of the team’s bus and salvage the club from the ravaged pangs of transportation cost to honor matches.

We have a fundraiser on Saturday at Mumboha Stadium that is meant to raise money for the purchase of a team bus. This will help us save on the transport cost and that money can be directed to motivating the players,” he said.

The first-time club chairperson also tipped Villa to flourish over the weekend when they host the high-flying Kisumu All-Stars in a league fixture slated for Mumboha Stadium.
