MOFA are expected to face stern resistance from a Darajani Gogo side equally desperate for points in their battle to avoid relegation
Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) are aiming to reignite their fading promotion ambitions when they face Darajani Gogo FC in one of four National Super League (NSL) fixtures lined up for Thursday, 28 May afternoon.
The Homa Bay-based side heads into the clash at Gems Cambridge Smart School seeking an immediate response following last weekend’s frustrating 1-0 defeat to Kisumu All Stars, a result that dealt a major blow to their push for promotion.

With only three matches left before the curtain falls on the season, the Fobian Hosea-coached side can no longer afford any slip-ups.
MOFA currently sit fifth on the standings, 12 points behind the automatic promotion places and 10 adrift of the playoff spot, leaving them with an uphill task in their late quest for top-flight football.
Victory against Darajani Gogo is therefore non-negotiable if they are to keep their slim hopes mathematically alive, either through the automatic promotion route or the playoff berth.
However, MOFA are expected to face stern resistance from a Darajani Gogo side equally desperate for points in their battle to avoid relegation.
The Kibera-based outfit heads into the encounter buoyed by a crucial 1-0 victory over Vihiga United last weekend, a result that lifted them out of the relegation zone and up to 31 points, just above the dreaded red line.
Another victory for Gogo would move them to 34 points and significantly widen the gap between themselves and the relegation places, making Thursday’s showdown a high-stakes contest for both teams.
Elsewhere at Eldoret Showground, Soy United will host Kisumu All Stars in what promises to be another entertaining Mozzart Bet-sponsored derby.
Soy United come into the fixture in high spirits after edging Kabati Youth 2-1 in their previous outing and will be eager to build on that momentum.
With their league status virtually secured, the Eldoret-based side will now be targeting a strong finish in the top half of the table during their return season in the second tier.
Kisumu All Stars, on the other hand, also arrive full of confidence following their morale-boosting 1-0 victory over MOFA.
The former Kenyan Premier League side climbed to 35 points after that result and will now be seeking another crucial win away from home to further strengthen their survival hopes.
Maximum points for All Stars would see them rise to 38 points and open a healthy nine-point cushion above the relegation zone, an outcome that would almost certainly guarantee their NSL status after what has been a difficult and inconsistent campaign.
At Wundanyi Stadium, relegation-threatened Mwatate United will entertain high-flying Naivas FC in another potentially explosive fixture.
Mwatate currently sit rooted at the bottom of the table with 25 points and face mounting pressure heading into the closing stages of the season.
The James Tole-led side knows only victory can revive their survival hopes.
Maximum points would move them to 28 and potentially leave them just three points away from safety, depending on results elsewhere involving Darajani Gogo and other relegation rivals.
Yet, they face arguably one of the toughest assignments of the round against an in-form Naivas side.
The Retailers have enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent weeks, winning back-to-back matches to extend their unbeaten streak to five games.
With confidence soaring in the camp, Naivas will be aiming to stretch that run further while strengthening their push for a top-five finish.
Currently seventh on 54 points, a win for Elvis Ayany’s charges would move them to 57 points and level them with Fortune Sacco in the standings.
With Mwatate fighting for survival and Naivas keen to maintain their momentum, the fixture carries all the ingredients of a thrilling contest.
The final match of the day will take place in Murang’a where Kabati Youth welcome Luanda Villa SC.
Kabati remain deeply embroiled in the relegation battle and will be desperate for victory as they continue their fight for survival in their debut NSL campaign.
The newcomers have endured a difficult first season in the second tier, struggling for consistency and results throughout much of the campaign.
Currently third from bottom on 29 points, Kabati know they must capitalize on their remaining fixtures if they are to avoid an immediate drop back to the lower division.
Win on Thursday would lift them to 32 points and potentially move them out of the relegation zone, significantly boosting their survival prospects heading into the final stretch.
Nonetheless, they will need to produce one of their strongest performances of the season against a Luanda Villa side determined to finish inside the top half of the table.
Luanda sit 13th on 39 points and victory would take them to 42, reducing the gap between themselves and Soy United in the race for a respectable top-half finish should the Eldoret-based side falter at home.
