NSL: Mara Sugar eyeing Mulembe scalp

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 04.11.23. | 10:24

MCF will be hoping to register their first win of the season when they face Migori Youth at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos

National Super League toppers Mara Sugar will be aiming at opening a three-point gap at the summit when they face Mulembe United at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Mara sit at the top with 14 points, a tally similar to that of the second-placed Kisumu All Stars, although their goal difference is better compared to that of the former top-flight side.

The sugarmen who will be under coach Vincent Nyaberi going forward have played seven matches, won four, drawn twice, and lost once.

Nyaberi, who laid hands on the CAF B coaching course license on Friday, replaced Francis Xavier, who quit the club for an assistant coaching job at Sofapaka.

Mulembe are placed second from bottom with four points, and victory over Mara will see them scale to a relatively safer rank.

Debutants Nairobi United will be hoping to preserve their unbeaten start as well as draw closer to the top when they clash with SS Assad at the Ukunda Showground.

Nairobi and Luanda Villa are the only unbeaten sides in the league thus far. Interestingly, the two cubs were promoted at the end of last season.

If Nairobi manages to secure maximum points down at the coast, they will move within touching distance of the top slot.

In other matches set for Saturday, Rainbow have a date with Kajiado at the Ildamat Grounds.

Rainbow, who are new in the competition, have won twice, while Kajiado will be looking for their fourth win.

Dimba Patriots will host Kibera Black Stars at the Wundanyi Stadium.

Meanwhile, MCF will be hoping to register their first win of the season when they face Migori Youth at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

MCF is the only team yet to win a game this season.
