It was the only second-tier fixture of the day, but it produced enough drama and tension to sum up MCF’s frustrating start to the season.
The loss piles further pressure on head coach Vincent Nyaberi, whose side has now gone six matches without a win.
Kibera started the game with confidence, pushing the hosts back through neat passing and fluid movement in midfield.
Brian Odhiambo and Daniel Odhiambo dictated the tempo, constantly probing MCF’s defense with sharp interplay, while Alex Shammlah stretched the flanks with his blistering pace.
Despite their attacking intent, both sides were locked in a tight battle early on.
MCF’s Mophat Kovelo marshalled the defense well, cutting out several dangerous moves for striker Kendrick Onzere.
The visitors’ persistence finally paid off in the 28th minute when former Fortune Sacco right-back Conrad Imbusi broke the deadlock.
The defender made a well-timed run to the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot that left Geoffrey Were with no chance, sending the Kibera bench into wild celebrations.
The goal gave Kibera control, as they dictated play and frustrated MCF with their organised pressing and quick transitions.
Nyaberi’s charges tried to respond through long balls aimed at Onzere and his strike partner, but the Kibera backline stood tall.
The second half saw MCF push forward in search of an equaliser, but it came at a cost.
In the final ten minutes, Kibera turned into a real menace on the counterattack, with Shammlah and Brian Odhiambo tormenting a stretched MCF defense.
Their pressure paid off in the 85th minute when Jephiter Bundi sealed the win.
The forward pounced on a defensive lapse after MCF were caught high up the pitch chasing an equaliser, calmly slotting past Were to make it 2-0.
MCF were left exposed and were caught flat-footed trying to salvage a point as Kibera’s pace and precision punished them brutally in the closing stages.
The defeat marks MCF’s fourth loss of the campaign, having previously fallen to Migori Youth, Naivas FC, and Mombasa United.
The team remains rooted near the bottom of the table with no signs of turning their form around.
In contrast, Kibera Black Stars are flying high.
Under the guidance of coach Iddi Badi, the Nairobi-based side have now gone five matches unbeaten and are steadily climbing toward the summit of the NSL standings as they sit second on 13points.
With confidence growing in the camp and their attacking rhythm coming together, Kibera look like genuine promotion contenders, while pressure continues to mount on Nyaberi to find a quick fix before MCF’s season spirals further out of control.
