NSL: Assad out to stop red hot Naivas as Kisumu All Stars entertain Kibera Black Stars

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 14.10.23. | 08:25

The early kickoff match will be between Mara Sugar and Vihiga Bullets at Awendo Green Stadium

National Super League (NSL) action enters round five on Saturday with five matches lined up across various venues in the country.

The highlight of the day will pit league leaders Naivas FC against fifth placed Assad, with the shoppers boosting a strong start to the season and will be looking to bask on home advantage to tear apart Simba Gii.

Under the stewardship of Collins Omondi "Korea", the chain markets powered Naivas are on a streak of seven matches without defeat, a run that extends from the 2022-23 season.

The Ali Mwachaunga instructed Assad have struggled in this match up, with Naivas winning five of the last eight encounters while the Sea Lions have registered a win twice with one clash ending in a stalemate.

A win for Korea's charges, who boast of third best defensive record in the league, will extend their unbeaten run to five games further consolidating their top of the table status.

On the other hand, maximum points for Assad will see the club claim their first victory against the shoppers since their 2-1 win in September 2021, during their time in the third tier, and one that could lift the Base Titanium sponsored outfit to the summit of the league.

Kisumu All Stars vs Kibera Black Stars

At Moi Stadium Kisumu, Kisumu All Stars who have recorded two wins in a bounce after a slow start to the season, host out of form Kibera Black Stars, who are coming off a 2-2 draw against Mombasa Stars.

Kisumu head into the fixture with an unwanted defensive record that has seen the former Football Kenya Federation Premier League side fail to keep a clean in six of the previous duels while nicking a win once in the four times the two sides have battled.

Victory for All Stars will take them top of the table for the first time since demotion from the top tier suppose Mara sugar and Naivas drop maximum points.

Mara Sugar vs Vihiga Bullets

Vihiga Bullets travel to Awendo where they are set to take on second placed Mara Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium.

Francis Xavier's men head into the match on a run of seven matches without defeat a form that dates back to last season.

Bullets, on the other hand, have struggled for form since their relegation to the second tier, and will approach the match seeking to bounce back from last weekend 3-0 loss to Kisumu All Stars.

A win for the millers could see them lift off from 2nd on the log to 1st, while victory for George Awoko's charges could steer them up to fifth depending on the results from other matches.

In other second tier matches set for Saturday, Paul Ogai begins his era at Darajani Gogo with a stern test against struggling Mully Children Family FC (MCF FC) with both teams seeking for first wins of the term in a match planned for Hope Center Grounds.

Elsewhere, Dimba Patriots will entertain fellow debutants Luanda Villa at The Wolves Den with both sides seeking to register their second wins since elevation to the league.
