The Red Devils' defender, Ayden Heaven, allegedly opted for the Three Lions, despite having a chance to switch allegiance and join the African national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup
Amidst a sea of examples of players who opt for some African, South American, Asian, or North American national team only after being cast off by some powerful European country, a different one is coming from England.
According to the BBC, even though qualified to switch allegiance to Ghana through his grandparents, Manchester United gem Ayden Heaven will stick to the Three Lions and try to earn a spot in Thomas Tuchel's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad. And although the impression is that that would have been achievable much more easily with the Black Stars, the youngster has reportedly made his decision.

The 19-year-old defender, born in London, moved through England's youth categories, representing his birth country at U-18, U-19, and U-20 levels.
Heaven joined United last February from Arsenal for €1.8 million and has recently shone with Ruben Amorim's team. This season, he made nine appearances, but started the last five Red Devils' Premier League matches, clocking 90 minutes in the previous three.
Moreover, he was named "Man of the Match" in a 1-0 win against Newcastle three days ago, indicating he could become the next "big thing" at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately for Ghana, they will most likely be unable to capitalize on Heaven's quality and potential.
