Mikel Arteta's men were far from spectacular at Amex, but Bukayo Saka's early goal proved to be crucial (1-0). Pep's team disappoints at the Etihad (2-2)
People say the game's not over till the fat lady sings. But after Wednesday night, it feels like the Premier League season is almost decided.
Arsenal have celebrated a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Brighton, while Manchester City slipped, drawing at home with Nottingham Forest, 2-2.
With this result, Arsenal now lead the table by seven points, though Pep Guardiola's men still have a game in hand.

Still, Manchester City will remember March 4 for the wrong reasons. They led twice but couldn’t keep their advantage. Things looked fine after Antoine Semenyo scored with a great mid-air volley around the half-hour mark, his fifth goal in eight EPL games for City. At that point, Nottingham Forest had barely left their own half and only had 25% possession.
City needed another goal to secure the win, but the Tricky Trees showed real determination and made the night unforgettable for Arsenal fans.
Soon after the second half began, the visiting side started a great counterattack with Ola Aina on the right. He crossed to Igor Jesus at the back post, who headed it to Morgan Gibbs-White. Even with his back to goal, Gibbs-White backheeled the ball through Ruben Dias’s legs and into the net, making it 1-1.
Manchester City responded quickly when Rodri scored with a header, putting them ahead 2-1 and seemingly on track for victory.
But Forest were not finished yet.
Elliot Anderson, who is reportedly one of Guardiola’s main transfer targets, created a brilliant goal out of nowhere.

The England midfielder played a one-two about 25 yards from goal, then curled a first-time shot into the bottom corner, out of Donnarumma’s reach, to make it 2-2.
There were nearly 20 minutes left, including a long stoppage time, but City never looked likely to score again or hold onto the lead. the season, and maybe the crucial one. When almost no one expected them to stumble.
Meanwhile, at Amex Stadium, Arsenal took a big step toward the title, even though they didn’t play their best. The match started badly for them when David Raya made an early mistake, giving Carlos Baleba a chance. Baleba tried to lob Raya, but Gabriel cleared the ball near the line and saved Arsenal from early trouble.
A few minutes later, the result - and maybe the whole Premier League season - was decided. Despite a low xG of 0.01, Bukayo Saka scored with his left foot after Brighton’s keeper Verbruggen failed to react well, making it 1-0.
That was the decisive moment. Both teams fought hard until the end, but aside from a few good chances, there was little else to note in this tough match. A goalless draw would not have been unfair.
But that’s what winning the Premier League is about. It’s not always about big wins and celebrations. Sometimes, teams have to dig deep, stay focused under pressure, and prove they deserve the trophy. Arsenal are now just a few steps away.
