Newcomers help Conte in further schooling Cesc - Napoli solidify their summit spot

McTominay, Lukaku and Neres were on the scoreboard at the Maradona Stadium
Romelu Lukaku’s dominant performance, featuring a goal and two assists, ensured Napoli remained firmly at the top of Serie A with a 3-1 victory over Cesc Fàbregas’ Como 1907. The win preserved the Partenopei’s flawless home record across all competitions this season.
Sitting atop the Serie A table after six games, Antonio Conte's side wasted no time in asserting their dominance, opening the scoring just 25 seconds into the match. Scott McTominay, quickly becoming a fan favorite in Naples, received a pass from Lukaku, turned inside Alberto Dossena, and expertly curled a low shot into the bottom corner. Despite conceding the fastest goal of the Serie A season so far, Como remained unfazed, with Gabriel Strefezza and Nico Paz both coming close with powerful efforts that narrowly missed the target.
Insane how quickly Conte’s Napoli turned it around after their shaky start 💙👏

Paz, having calibrated his range, was unlucky not to equalize when his long-range strike rattled off the inside of the post. Napoli, who had not conceded a goal in any competition since August, struggled to cope with Como’s mounting pressure as halftime approached. That pressure finally paid off when Máximo Perrone teed up Strefezza on the edge of the box, and the Brazilian slotted the ball past Elia Caprile, marking the first goal the Napoli goalkeeper had conceded since joining the club.
onte’s halftime team talk appeared to reinvigorate his players, as they quickly regained the lead just minutes into the second half. After a misplaced pass by Marc-Oliver Kempf, Napoli surged forward, and Mathías Olivera was brought down by Sergi Roberto in the box, handing Lukaku the opportunity to score from the penalty spot. He confidently smashed the ball down the middle. Tensions flared after that, with Strefezza narrowly avoiding a red card and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia being denied a potential second penalty after being shoved by Alberto Moreno.
Despite Como’s determined performance, they failed to find a late equalizer. Instead, Napoli sealed the victory with Lukaku once again at the heart of the action, holding off Kempf to set up substitute David Neres, who calmly slid his shot beneath Emil Audero. This marked Napoli's sixth win in seven games since their shocking opening-day loss to Hellas Verona, cementing their position at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Como’s respectable display showed promise as Fàbregas continues to shape the team with his distinct tactical approach.
