Belgium's all-time leading scorer allegedly informed the Royal Belgian Football Association that he will represent only Napoli at least until the end of the year

What has been indicated is now confirmed: Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne won't be a part of the Belgian national team in the upcoming games against Italy in Rome and France in Brussels. The duo has recently hinted at the decision, but now it's definitive.

And while the Man City midfielder situation is not completely clear, the details of Lukaku's choice are known. Namely, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 31-year-old has officially informed the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) that he will not be available to the national team until the end of 2024 in the least.

The reason behind Lukaku's decision is reportedly his wish to settle at his new club and devote himself to Napoli. So far, in six Serie A rounds, the robust forward noted two goals and as many assists, being one of the crucial players in the Neapolitans' pursuit of the top spot they currently sit in.

Lukaku debuted for Belgium back in 2010 and is the fifth most capped player in the national team's history with 119 appearances. Moreover, he is Belgium's all-time leading scorer with 85 goals. In his absence, Domenico Tedesco will mainly rely on the Premier League duo - Jeremy Doku of Man City and Leandro Trossard of Arsenal - and the scorer of four goals this season, RB Leipzig's Lois Openda.
