The Serbian tactician was unveiled as the club’s new boss following the exit of Burundian Etienne Ndayiragije, who led the Law Enforcers to their first-ever Premier League title last season.

Ndayiragije left on mutual consent after failing to steer the team into the CAF Champions League group stages.

Police’s continental campaign ended in the second preliminary round after a 4-1 aggregate loss to Sudanese champions Al Hilal.

The Law Enforcers lost 1–0 in Nairobi before going down 3–1 in the return leg in Benghazi, Libya, due to the political instability in Sudan.

Speaking during his unveiling, Stojanovic said he was drawn to the project because he clearly understood the club’s ambitions and vision.

“I know where Police want to be, and I know what they want to achieve. That is the reason I decided to join them, to be on the same track,” he said.

We all know what Police have achieved and what they are targeting for the future. I can promise a positive start under my reign.”

The Serbian, who previously guided SC Villa to the Ugandan Premier League title after 20 years, said he intends to bring a strong work ethic and resilience into the dressing room.

“I hope everything goes as planned. I can promise hard work, and I can promise that we will never give up.

We will always fight for our goals. Right now, everything is perfect except for the results; we are only lacking goals, and with more time, that will change,” he added.

Police have scored just once in their opening three matches this season, something the new coach says he will address immediately.

Stojanovic admitted he did not know much about the team before his appointment, but gained valuable insight from watching their CAF Champions League fixtures.

To be honest, I don’t know Police very well. I watched a few of their matches while in Europe, especially the two games against Al Hilal. That gave me some information about the players and the team,” he explained.

“I worked in Uganda two seasons ago, and football in East Africa has many similarities, so I don’t expect to have problems settling in.

The 50-year-old inherits a side currently struggling in the bottom half of the table.

Police are placed 17th with five points from three matches, one win and two draws, but remain unbeaten.

They opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars, beat newly promoted APS Bomet 1–0, and shared the spoils in a barren draw with Posta Rangers.

Stojanovic’s first test will come against Sofapaka on Wednesday before facing Tusker FC on Sunday in fixtures that could mark the beginning of his mission to revive the champions’ season.
