The youthful custodian was voted Migori Youth's 2020/2021 player of the season

Months after parting ways with Kariobangi Sharks, custodian Gideon Ogweno has emerged as center of interest for clubs plying trade in the second tier.

Ogweno joined Sharks from Kenya Police FC but his stay at the club lasted only for a season rendering him a free agent at the conclusion of 2022-2023 campaign.

The youthful custodian enjoyed fabulous spells in the second tier with Migori Youth in 2020/2021 season finishing as first runners up best goalkeeper of the season to eventual winner Bonface Munyasa, a performance that convinced Police to snap up his services though he failed to impress at the law enforces and was shipped out to Kariobangi the following season.

The Migori Youth academy graduate known for his quick reflexes in goal is being trailed by National Super League newbies Nairobi United with coach Paul Odhiambo Okatwa keen on tying down the keeper with a two year deal on the table.

The 2020/2021 Migori player of the season, has also confirmed receiving offers from the rebuilding Darajani Gogo FC as well as Mara Sugar FC have sought his services as they ready to mount a serious Football Kenya Federation Premier League promotion challenge.

Furthermore, the custodian who is currently training with his boyhood club Migori Youth, has revealed the border club's intentions of keeping him at the team for at least one season.

"I have several offers that are waiting for my response," he told Mozzart Sport.

Ogweno, stated he is not in a hurry to commit his future elsewhere despite the looming transfer window deadline as he is currently committed in training sessions to rediscover his lost form before gracing the fields again.

"I am not in a hurry to make a decision, right now my mind is on getting back to the required fitness levels and I can decide my next home as soon as possible," he offered.

Confirming their interest in Ogweno, Migori assistant coach Sammy Owano noted that the club was in dire need of a shot stopper following the exit of Victor Khamungo to FKF Premier League outfit Shabana FC.
