City Stars were at some point, in the season, breathing hard behind the back of log leaders Gor Mahia courtesy of the consistency they had in bagging wins

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has for the umpteenth time steered clear of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) title talks, emphasizing that the team is focused on garnering better results compared to those of last season.

City Stars were at one point breathing down the necks of league leaders Gor Mahia, thanks to their consistent string of victories.

However, the team has since dropped to the fifth slot and trails the defending champions by twelve points.

Muyoti emphasizes that despite the mathematical chance of winning the title in the remaining eight rounds, the focus remains on winning the next league game and improving on last season’s performance.

City Stars spent the better part of last season fighting for survival and succeeded in avoiding relegation after securing wins in the closing stages of the season.

Our aim in the season remains to do better than last season. Our approach hasn’t changed as normally take and concentrate on one game at a time,” said the tactician.

With City Stars set to face FC Talanta in their next league match, Muyoti says they will approach the game a confident side following last weekend’s 3-0 win over debutants Murang’a Seal.

City Stars returned to winning ways last Saturday after mauling Seal at the Police Sacco Grounds courtesy of second-half goals from Dennis Oalo, Mohamed Bajaber, and Japanese Yuto Kusaba.

Prior to the game, the Kawangware-based club had gone for four matches without a win.

There are a lot of positives we drew from the game. It’s a win that will inject confidence into the team considering that we were coming off a loss. I believe we will face the remainder of the season with a lot of confidence,” added the former Thika United coach.
