Crowd backed Munami edged the two time champions to claim one million after recording the maiden title victory

Thousands of Munami FC supporters present at the 4th edition of the Cleophas Malala Super Cup will have even more reason to revel deep into the night at the Mumias Sports Complex as they usher in the New Year 2022 on Friday 31 December 2021.

This is after their team ousted seasoned Arsenal Lirhembe 1-0 in the finals of the annual tourney to send their fanbase into delirium as they clinched their first ever Super Cup title and claimed the one million championship prize awarded to the winners.

Prior to the final matchup, Lirhembe, home of former Tusker ace Henry Meja who has since joined Swedish side AIK, would have been in confident mood of reclaiming the title they lost in the third edition as they knocked out Kona Rangers 1-0 in semifinal 1 to confirm their berth in the finals.

In semifinal 2, Munami had held their nerves in post-match penalty shootouts as they edged Shianda All Stars 4-2 to book their place alongside the two time champions.

On the material game that kicked off in the evening hours, Lirhembe’s past glory was washed down the drain as a solitary strike from the home favourites propelled the team to their maiden Super Cup triump as Lirhembe were left to settle for second position and the half a million cash prize.

In the tournament that is also sponsored by lead gaming firm Mozzart Bet, Kona Rangers walked away with the sh. 250,000 as they pipped Shianda All Stars 2-1 in the 3/4th place playoff match.
