Rovers, a club plying its trade in FKF Division Two Central Zone where they finished fourth in the 2022-2023 campaign, had got into an agreement to buyout Muhoroni's slot in the third tier for the ongoing 2023-2024 season

Muhoroni Youth chairman and businessman Moses Adagala was on Wednesday afternoon arraigned at Minara Court in Koru to answer questions pertaining his involvement in the dubious takeover deal between Muhoroni Young and Kericho Rovers that has now turned sour.

Rovers, a club plying its trade in FKF Division Two Central Zone where they finished fourth in the 2022-2023 campaign, had got into an agreement to buyout Muhoroni's slot in the third tier for the ongoing 2023-2024 season and shift base to Kericho Green Stadium.

As per the seller-buyer agreement document seen by Mozzart Sport, a deal was signed between Muhoroni Young owner Moses Adagala and Kericho Rovers Chairman Ogallo James Olweny on 11 July 2023 in presence of Obondo Koko & Co. Advocates upon payment of Ksh 320,000 to Adagala's account.

Things went sour after they cross-checked with the FKF Leagues and Competitions committee the authenticity of the agreement and signatures appended to them only to discover that Adagala was not Muhoroni Young's rightful owner and therefore could not carry out any business on behalf of the Got Alila based club.

The aftermath of the takeover that has now turned into a long con saw the Kericho based businessman seek justice in the court corridors that had the club mogul apprehended last week on Friday at Muhoroni Police Station before he was set free on a Ksh 20,000 cash bail as he was needed to answer questions on his contributions to chaos witnessed as Muhoroni Youth squired out with KCB FC at his home turf.

Appearing before chief principal magistrate Maureen Olonyi Nyakoa of the Minara Court, Koru, Adagala denied his involvement in the takeover saga and was released on a Ksh 200,000 cash bail after taking plea.

On his hand, a disheartened Olweny has called for escalation of the probe process as he seeks to have his money back after the team board decided to have another season in the fourth tier and fight their way up.

Muhoroni Young was formed in 2022 as a sister club to Muhoroni Youth who had by then taken over Western Stima's slot in the National Super League leaving a vacuum in Division One.

Under the tutelage of Phelix Ogutu, Young has had an exemplary start to the season collecting maximum points against Sunderland Naivasha before back to back draws against Vegpro and St. Joseph’s Youth, a performance that ranks them fifth on the league standings.
