In a historic move, Mozzart on Tuesday, 23 September, announced the sponsorship of three NSL clubs, 3K FC, Migori Youth and Kisumu All Stars.
Over the next year, Mozzart will sponsor the three clubs with Ksh5 million each and an additional Ksh1 million for club merchandise.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the glamorous unveiling, Mozzart Marketing Manager Frank Ochieng revealed what motivated the sponsorships.
“The three clubs were strategically chosen to represent our goal of growing football from the grassroots, and that is why we chose NSL clubs from different parts of the country: Embu, Migori, which is near the Tanzania border and Kisumu,” said Ochieng.
The move by Mozzart marked the first time that a company has sponsored three clubs in the NSL at the same time.
Additionally, it became the highest financial sponsorship that NSL clubs have inked directly with a company, a feat Ochieng revelled in.
“It was a good day for NSL football and Mozzart Bet as a company. We have been engaging with the clubs for quite some time, and finally, we signed an agreement,” he added.
Ochieng also lauded the move as an improvement to the ‘New Jerseys for New Champions’ initiative by the gaming firm, which offers football equipment, including kitting, balls and nets to grassroots teams across the country.
“We started the journey about four years ago through sponsoring grassroots teams with kiting and equipment, which has had a big impact on the teams and the game. We have now taken it to a much bigger level in the NSL,” stated Ochieng.
Apart from the three second-tier clubs, Mozzart are also the sponsors of FKF Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz since December 2020, the Kenya Women's national volleyball team, Malkia Strikers and also the sponsors of Mozzart Bet Cup, among others.
