For years on end, Kitengela-based Milimani FC players put everything on the line out of sheer love and passion for the beautiful game.

The players did not consider the health risks that came with sharing the available 14 kits on match days, even if it meant one player having to wear a sweaty shirt previously used by a teammate.

All they cared about was playing the game, winning matches, celebrating together and working towards their main objective of becoming the first team from Kitengela to rise from obscurity and gain promotion to the FKF Premier League.

However, the side, which plies its trade in the FKF Division Two Eastern Zone, had every reason to smile after gaming giants Mozzart Bet visited their home ground on the outskirts of Kitengela Town.

Responding to the team's request, the gaming firm, through its game-changing initiative dubbed New Jerseys for New Champions, donated a full set of 23 kits and two footballs.

The brief handover ceremony at Milimani Grounds attracted scores of players, members of the technical bench, and club officials, who turned up to receive and try on their new kits.

Club captain Vincent Maranga, while thanking Mozzart Bet for the timely donation, revealed the team's struggles on match days due to a limited number of uniforms.

He noted that the kits they had been using had not only stood the test of time but were also insufficient for all the players, forcing some to share jerseys during matches.

"We thank Mozzart Bet for donating a full set of kits to our team. Previously, we only had about 14 kits, which were not enough for all the players.

During matches, substitutes often had to share jerseys with teammates they were replacing, a practice that posed health risks. Thanks to Mozzart Bet, that is now a thing of the past," said the attacking midfielder.

Maranga, an IT graduate from the University of Embu, expressed confidence that the new kits will play a significant role in the team’s quest for promotion to the third tier.

Currently, the team is placed seventh in the 28-team competition.

“The new uniforms certainly give us confidence. We will no longer have to worry about our grooming; all our efforts will now be concentrated on winning matches,” he added.

Meanwhile, coach Kevin Mariga believes the club is on course to make history by becoming the first team from Kajiado County to feature in the FKF Premier League.

The tactician revealed that reaching the top tier was part of the club’s five-year plan, adding that the support from Mozzart Bet will help fuel their promotion dream.

"We are grateful to Mozzart Bet for visiting us and providing full kits. It is this kind of support from friends and well-wishers that keeps us going as we work towards achieving our plans,” said Mariga, who was flanked by the club’s team manager, Evans Kimathi.
