The 2025 champions, who had not yet played a minute of this year’s competition after being awarded a walkover against Mombasa-based L-15 FC in the previous round, unleashed their arsenal against their inferior opponents, keeping alive their hopes of a title defense.

The hosts got things underway via Benson Omala, who kept up his recent run of form with a brace in the first-half to give Naibois a 2-0 lead in the first-half.

The second-half was akin the first period, with Brian Magare netting his double, while all of Shami Mwinyi and Dancan Omalla added a goal each to take the tally to 6-0.

Highly-rated winger Ashraf Thaire then added his side’s third individual brace to complete the rout.

At the Kasarani Annex, another FKF Premier League side - Kariobangi Sharks - made it into the last 16 with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Kenyatta University Hardnuts.

William Muluya’s side were deadlocked at 0-0 in the first half, before exciting midfielder Humphrey Aroko scored four goals in the second period to secure his side a place in the following round.

There were wins for other top-tier sides as Posta Rangers and Murang’a Seal secured passage into the final 16.

Posta, who came up against Oinopsos at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, needed two goals either half from center back Dinken Mwema to complete the routine win, while Seal, through Victor Haki’s strike in the first half, upstaged FC Dynamo 1-0 at St. Sebastian Park.

In the other matches on the day, Kuta Collections kept alive their run in the cup with a 1-0 win over KSG Ogopa at Kasarani Annex, while little-known Chebaiywa Lions used their home advantage effectively to oust Gucha Youth 2-0 at the DMI St. Joseph’s School grounds.
