BB went into the match having eliminated Kenyan giants AFC Leopards, while Gor had secured a 2-0 victory over Dero FC.
Gor Mahia made 10 changes to the team that started in their last match against Posta Rangers, with only Frank Odhiambo retaining his place at the heart of defense.
The match started with a very high tempo from Gor Mahia, who were keen to find an early goal that would move them closer to victory, but BB bread were strong in defense, curbing early dangerous runs from Patrick Esombe and Elly Owande.
Gor Mahia were seeing much of the ball, but there was no attempt or goal by the 20th minute, as they often could not find the right pass in the final third.
The match’s first attempt came in the 22nd minute when Frank released Ben Stanley with a looped ball behind the BB defense, which the latter took on his first touch, but it went over the bar.
BB were growing in confidence as the match progressed, and started seeing much of the ball, stringing passes, and causing Gor Mahia problems on the wing, notably through Charles Munala.
By the half hour mark, K’Ogalo fans began to express their dissatisfaction with the team, especially with Stanley, who was misplacing passes in the final third.
With BB Bread sitting back and compact in defense, Gor opted for long balls through the channels to Owande and Bryson Wangai, but neither could result in any significant statistics.
BB had the match’s first shot on target in the 40th minute courtesy of Munala, but his shot went straight into the hands of Kevin Omondi.
Gor had the last chance of the first half through Patrick Escombe, whose effort from a Stanley pass went inches wide off the right post, as the two sides settled for a barren draw at the break.
In a bid to bolster their attack, coach Charles Akonnor introduced Paul Ochuoga and Shariff Musa for Philemon Odhiambo and Owande at half time.
Musa had an immediate impact, breathing life into the K’Ogalo attack with quicker and direct dribbles into the BB defense.
In the 50th minute , Musa dribbled into the box and to the byline, brought in a cutback, but Fidel Origa was late to pull the trigger as BB recovered.
Gor were back at it in the 50th minute when Stanley took a feeble shot that could not trouble Ezekiel Owade in the BB goal.
The flurry of chances continued in the 54th minute when Origa looped a ball to Musa whose goalward flick was easily picked by Owade.
K’Ogalo added more punch by introducing Ghanaian duo of Enock Morrison and Ebenzer Assifuah for Wendo and Esombe in the 58th minute.
Morrison had an immediate impact by attempting a strike outside the box that was blocked for a fruitless corner.
BB took a long range shot through Dennis Mbevi, who was causing Levin problems, but it was well saved by Omondi in the 75th minute.
On the opposite side, Morrison headed wide from a free header inside the box in the 79th minute after he was set through by Stanley.
The match’s important moment came in the 84th minute from a quick transition. BB broke as Chaulimu released substitute Denis Muthini on the left side, who cut inside the box and placed his ball past Omondi and into the back of the met to silence the K’Ogalo crowd.
Gor pushed with more numbers and urgency upfront, and almost got an equalizer in the 92nd minute, when from a Jackson Dwang corner, Assifuah directed his header past Owade, but the defense was allert with Yidi Robert making a goal line clearance.
In the end, Gor pushed for an elusive equalizer as BB continued with their title killing journey by eliminating Gor and booking a place in the round of 16.
